This is a functioning antique 1 pint ice cream maker. It is not a salesman sample - but more directed for a child's use. This one is original and would date to the 1890 - 1930 time frame.
They re-produced these in the 1980's and used flat brass bands on the reproductions and they made the cylinder out of shiny tin. Mine has the round steel bands holding the barrel together and the cylinder is soldered together. Although you can see the residual of the original decal, the paper label is missing. The parts are easy to assemble and dissemble.
